Lecapon in Potting Medium

To lighten the growing medium, provide proper drainage, improve root aeration, reduce weight, and prevent surface evaporation, Lecapon can be used in all three sizes (fine, medium, and coarse).

Lecapon in Roof Garden and Green Wall Spaces

It is used in roof gardens and green walls due to its lightweight properties, long lifespan, high durability, and moisture retention capabilities.

Lecapon for Cutting and Rooting

Lecapon is used for cuttings due to its porous structure, being free of pests, providing proper root aeration, drainage, and water retention capabilities.

Lecapon in Hydroponics and Aquaponics

Hydroponics refers to soil-free cultivation using a nutrient solution.

Aquaponics is a cultivation method that combines growing plants with raising aquatic animals.

Lecapon is used as a support, stabilizer, and drainage medium; it is neutral and free of any nutrients.

Fiberpeat and Lecapon Mix

Fiberpeat is a type of growing medium made from broadleaf tree fibers. It is considered a soil improver and is one of the best planting substrates for plants.

Benefits of Fiberpeat with Lecapon

  • Proper root aeration

  • Free from any pests

  • Reduces germination time

  • Environmentally friendly

Organic Compost with Lecapon

Compost is made from raw waste materials that are transformed into high-quality compost through a standardized processing system.

Benefits of Organic Compost with Lecapon

  • Free from any pests

  • Helps improve soil in saline environments

  • Supports environmental sustainability

Applications of Organic Compost with Lecapon

  • Tray seedling production

  • Production of vegetables and greens

  • Seedling and tree planting

  • Flowers, plants, and green spaces

  • Seeds and propagation of various plants

Roof Garden

A roof garden covers a large and extensive area of the roof with vegetation. In this system, the roof garden is implemented using ground-covering plants, primarily grass. The main characteristic of an extensive green roof is to create a visually expansive green surface without a specific functional purpose, with benefits primarily limited to environmental aspects.

Benefits of a Roof Garden

  • Cooling the building and surrounding environment

  • Managing water runoff

  • Reducing air pollution

  • Decreasing building heat absorption

  • Creating a pleasant environment and purifying surrounding air

  • Enhancing aesthetic appeal

  • Reducing energy consumption

  • Increasing the lifespan of building roofs

  • Reducing noise

Green Roof

A green roof is a roof partially or fully covered with vegetation and soil, or with a growing medium. The term “green roof” can also apply to roofs designed with green concepts in mind, such as solar panels or photovoltaic cells. Covering a roof with greenery requires carefully selected plants that can withstand the harsh and lifeless conditions of a rooftop, including limited water, climatic factors, frost, sea breeze, dryness, and more. The choice of plants varies depending on the climate and environmental conditions. A green roof represents the pinnacle of integrating construction with the environment. Green roofs can range from placing a few pots on the rooftop to creating full gardens and green spaces similar to parks.

Types of Green Roofs

Types of Green Roofs:   1- Extensive System     2- Intensive System    3- Combined Extensive and Intensive System      4- Modular System

  • This method is also known as low-profile or thin-layer installation. This type of green roof includes only one or two types of plants and a shallow planting medium. In most cases, it is used when minimal weight load is a priority.

  • This method, mostly implemented on villas or large terraces, resembles a park-like green space. This type of roof garden is also known as a deep-layer system. It includes a wide variety of plants, and some green roofs even feature large trees. The diversity of plants and the presence of small or large trees sometimes require significant structural reinforcement. In most cases, this method necessitates a new structural design for the roof, especially for roof gardens with public access.

  • This type of green roof is a combination of the extensive and intensive systems, incorporating the benefits of both methods. However, it has a higher load and weight capacity requirement for the structure.

  • In the modular system, the growing medium is discontinuous, consisting of prefabricated units that can be installed on any roof, balcony, or type of roof garden without the need for additional infrastructure.

  • These prefabricated units come with a variety of pre-planted vegetation, including different plants, trees, and shrubs. In this system, the plants are grown and maintained in special boxes that cover all or most of the roof garden, helping to reduce major issues and costs associated with waterproofing the roof.

Objectives of Creating a Green Roof

  • Ecological conditions and preservation of natural beauty
  • Maintaining the physical and mental well-being of citizens
  • Economic and spiritual values

Green roofs are classified into three main types based on their implementation system:

  • Extensive System

  • Intensive System

  • Modular or Planter Box System

  • Combined (Synthetic) System

Rice Seedling Cultivation in Trays on a Lecapon Medium

Seedlings refer to the stage of plant growth after the seed phase, when the plant is halfway through its development. In general, high-quality seedlings can lead to higher agricultural yields, such as in rice production.

Increasing the quality of the final product, uniformity in growth, and production timing are key reasons for using this method for rice seedlings.

Key Factors in Tray-Based Rice Seedling Cultivation for Farmers

  • Sufficient air circulation

  • Free from any pests and contamination

  • Good rooting

  • Adequate and proper moisture

Due to its unique properties, including being free of pests, providing proper root aeration, and serving as an excellent water reservoir that retains 18% of its volume in water, Lecapon can be considered one of the best growing media.
